Boy, there’s a project for you.
Compile a visual history of the victories and defeats of labor, and try and keep it under a thousand pages for all the diversity you’ll find in it: women being burned alive; blacks and whites working together for the first time; an eight-year-old boy kicking coal with his bare feet; a young couple moving into their first real house; a gun battle between strikers and soldiers; French electronics workers keeping a factory running after chasing off all the bosses; vast gouts of tear gas; former slaves getting real pay; women chained to their seats, miscarrying on an assembly line; a guy taking his kids camping on the first weekend off he’s ever had; and so on into forever.
Then compile a visual history of the victories and defeats of capital, and try and pad it out to more than a dozen pages of a rich white guy in a necktie looking sad, and a rich white guy in a necktie looking happy.
